Good day to all our friends from the media, as well as the organizers and participants of the Michelin Philippine Fuel Savings Test 2006.

It is indeed heartening for me to see Michelin’s efforts in promoting the use of products that will help consumers realize savings and, more importantly, fuel.

We all know what the situation is like all over the world. The cost of fuel is rising and because of that many countries and their citizens are deeply affected one way or another. Their lives and lifestyles are experiencing drastic changes. And it is almost a certainty that fuels prices will not return to the same level as two years ago.

Because of this development, it has become even more important for all of us to find ways and means to save every drop of gasoline, diesel and other types of fuel.

This is why we at the Department of Energy take more than a keen interest in programs and events that generate public awareness for the need to save on fuel and energy.

I would, thus, like to congratulate Michelin Philippines the organizers and participants of the Michelin Philippine Fuel Savings Test 2006 for conducting this event.

I share in your hope that today’s results will have a positive impact on the motoring and tire industry, and a more positive impact on the oil industry as well.
